Vision

The main idea behind this blog is to encourage our downtown community to join hands and support one another in our projects in the arts. I am extremely inspired by the idea and look forward to seeing where this goes and who I can meet along the way. Downtown is more than just a place to party and unload at bars. It's time to go beyond the Neverland that is our drunken state and push into a new mindset of encouragement and support.

How many years have you lived in this town and seen faces around, perhaps know their names, yet walk right by them? I often stand behind the bar and watch people, who I know would connect, pass one another without a glance and sit alone.  There are projects and ideas behind these faces.

A former employer once described my job, as a bartender, as a position of connection. She encouraged me to start conversations with several people to get them talking together at the bar- in short, yah-connections. I'd like to carry this idea into a larger social spectrum- especially because we do live on the Internet.

I am going to be taking portraits over the next week and writing about the people I capture.
